We are the UCC Medical Society but please call us MedSoc! 2019 marks our 170th year in action making us one of UCC’s oldest societies. Every year we run a tremendous amount of events including – social nights for incoming students (Buddy Night), social nights for current students (MedBall), welfare evenings, MedCup(soccer tournament) and a very cute and cuddly Teddy Bear Hospitalin which primary school students come into UCC with their sick teddies and get looked after by us and maybe you!!
Our Teddy Bear Hospitalis a huge success annually and its only getting bigger and better! TG4 took great interest in the event last year which hosted 800 primary school students and cured 800 teddies!!
Here in MedSoc, we put a huge emphasis on cultural diversity. Our annual Medicine Through the Artsgives students the opportunity to express themselves – drawing, painting, singing and dancing (not all at once)!!
Another extremely successful event is our Culture Nightwhich tends to be a collab with other impressive societies here in UCC. It is an evening of celebration of the cultural diversity that enriches our college and student life with music, henna, singing, dancing and food it is always an amazing evening!
MedSoc caters for medical students, other healthcare students and all of the students in UCC with an interest in medicine, health and wellbeing. This year we plan on having a huge emphasis on welfare, culture and charity so please follow us on social media to keep up with our schenanigans and hopefully get involved in them too!!
